The Liebster Award

Thank you so much to Livi for nominating me for the Liebster Award. Here are my answers.

What is your favourite social network and why?
I don’t really have one favourite. I would say its between Google+, YouTube, Twitter and of course WordPress. I use all of them every day.

Do you speak any languages other than English? Which ones?
No. I have never learned another language. Just out of laziness really. I would love to learn to speak another language fluently. I know how to say a few simple things in Greek ( and a swear word ), but thats it.

Love or loathe blog awards?
No real feeling about them. Basically because I am not active enough or good enough to even be considered for one, but for others, they can be good, especially for newcomers to the blogging scene.

If I gave you £100 what would you spend it on?
A new battery for my Flip camera thats died from lack of use. Maybes new spectacles.

Do you wear slippers?
No. I may wear socks around the house if my feet are cold. I do own a pair of slippers that I got as a present but never wear them.

If you could change 1 thing in your life, what would it be and why?
To get a job I am happy with.

What’s the best piece of advice you have heard?
Just be yourself.

What are your feelings on inspirational quotes on the internet?
Some are thought provoking, some mean nothing to me.

Could you live without music?
No way. I love my music. When I’m in the bath, I must have music on, same while I’m do the dishes or cooking a meal.

Do you keep a physical journal/diary?
No. Only YouTube videos and my blog, even though they will be classed as digital.

You can have 1 talent bestowed on you, what do you choose?
To play a musical instrument perfectly. Something like guitar, sax, bass guitar, or piano.

My questions for you are:

From everything you own, what do you cherish the most?
What is the favourite place you have visited in the world?
What advice would you give to a new blogger to help them have a successful blog?
What was the last thing you laughed at?
What is you favourite hobby?
Describe you personality.
How tall are you?
What weather do you like the most?
Do you believe in ghosts?
Are you a good cook?

Those long sleepless nights

I hate these nights. You know them. You have all had them. The nights when no matter how hard you try, everything in the universe seems to go against you and do it’s best to stop you from going to sleep, even though you are absolutely knackered and feel and look like something from T.V’s Walking Dead. You lie there in the dark and hear every single little sound. The house creaking, the cat snoring, your partner snoring ( these last two are happening to me right now ), a fly farting at the other end of the street. No matter how hard you try to ignore the sounds, they somehow seem to be amplified in the still of the night. You might as well have them blasting through a 1000 watt speaker system.
For me, the longer the night goes on, the more I get tired but still cannot sleep, the more my restless leg plays up and my leg then decides it wants to do a remake of the Riverdance in bed.
Then, the daylight starts to creep in around the edge of the curtains or blinds, and its at that time the dawn chorus starts outside our window. As much as I love nature and all its feathered and furry creatures, at half four in the morning, I could happily shoot the little buggers for the racket they are making.
Then between half four and five AM, one of our cats does his best to wake us up to let him out, or should I say he used to before we succumbed to installing a cat flap with a timer that unlocks at 5am. Now the little sod gets impatient and tries to wake us at 4.30 to let him out. He goes so far as to get on the shelf above out head and deliberately knocks stuff off onto our heads. Stuff like the phone, a wand I bought in York, the remote for our ceiling light, and one time I nearly had my crystal ball dropped on me. He even sometimes goes up to my accoustic bass guitar and plucks the strings to wake us. Now thats funny as sometimes it sounds like a good tune, but again at 4.30am its the last thing I want to hear.

So here I am, sitting downstairs on one of those nights, in our cold, and quiet dining room, typing this for something to do.
I hope I am not alone in this. Let me know what keeps you awake at night.

Cooking with The Wright Times. Chilli Con Carni

I was previously asked to do a video the next time I made a Chilli Con Carni, so here it is.

We like our Chilli’s mildish so feel free to add chilli peppers ect to suit your own taste.

1 x large white onion or 2 medium white onions
1 x red bell pepper
2 garlic cloves, or as I used, lazy garlic.
2 x table spoons chilli powder or chilli peppers to suit own taste
1 x table spoon of paprika
1 x table spoon of ground cumin
500g of minced beef
1 x beef stock cube / Oxo cube
1 x tin chopped tomatoes
1 x tin baked beans
1 x tin kidney beans
1 x 1/2 table spoon dried margoram ( not used in mine as I ran out )
1 x teaspoon white sugar
2 x table spoons tomato puree
Worcester Sauce
Ground pepper

Plain white rice. ( apparently a chicken or beef stock cube can be added to the water when cooking the rice but I have not tried this yet )

Let me know if you try this
