I am a normal ( in the loosest possible term) Dad from the North East of England. I have a few interests such as BTCC Touring Cars, Football, photography. My favourite hobby though is to just relax and chill out. I suffer from stress, depression and anxiety and possible PTSD. I am coming to terms with it these days where its not something I need to hide from people or be ashamed of. I also suffer from chronic back problems and live each day in pain in varying degrees. I am the sort of person that wants good for other people and always tries to help if I can. I can be really soft natured and sensitive, which sometimes surprises people when they meet me.

7 ways to stop your partner snoring. ( not exactly legal)

1: One of the most obvious ones is a nose clip thing. I am not sure how this is meant to work as my wife snores from her mouth not her nose. Some may find this works but we didn’t. This is a very humane method, the same as the age old gumshield device.

2: Smothering with a pillow. This one may require a bit of stamina as the snoring partner will more than likely try to fight you off. If you can avoid the flailing arms and legs, this method can be very successful. No more will you be bothered by a loud, rumbling, animal like noise during the night. You may find that once you get used to the quiet, you sleep like a baby. Note: You may require the expert help of specialist removal men to help dispose of the silent lump in the bed next to you, but I would advise using their services before you notice a smell of see flies.

3: Electric cattle prod. This can prove effective as well, but may lead to some undesired consequences. Such as the chance that one day when you least expect it, the prod may be used on you in retaliation. The use of the cattle prod, has significantly increased the rates of divorce in recent years so beware. I feel I should advise that, when using a cattle prod, if you notice a smell of bacon, this means you are using it on the person for more time than is required.

4: Moving your partner outside. This is done by whatever means you feel necessary but must be done without the snorers knowledge, as if they wake up then the end result could be you moving outside instead.
I have heard of someone who was sick if their husband snoring in his favourite chair that she pushed him to the front door, opened the door and left him for the night. This was during a blizzard. Obviously this could be a very handy method, if your partner looks great with a blue complexion, and they look good as a snowman. Moving you partner outside has loads of possibilities, depending on you strength, such as simply lying them on the car bonnet ( think of the healthy fresh air they will get), or physically inserting them into your wheelie bin. ( at least that way they stay sheltered).
Obviously if you live on the 25th floor of a high rise, it makes it a bit easier. It’s just a case of opening a window and giving them a helping hand. This has the effect of instant silence. Bliss.

5: Airhorn. This is an extra effective method, as not only would you wake your partner, but also the people half way down the street. So by your good deed, you could help loads of people get a good night sleep. How community spirited is that. A word of warning with this one is that it has been known to bring on heart attacks. No while this seems awful at first, the bright side is, you will have a peaceful nights sleep while your partner is either lifeless next to you, or in hospital receiving life saving treatment. Winner winner chicken dinner I say.

6: Duct tape / carpet tape. This can be similar to smothering by pillow (see number one), if you also cover the nose. Depending on the results you desire to have, either tape up the mouth, nose or both. Your partner may well thank you for this method is they are female, as removing the tape in the morning acts as an exfoliant. They will rejoice at how good their hairless face looks after you very thoughtful actions. This is a good one to score brownie points with your partner.

7: The Pinata. Again, this one is for those who are quite strong. Do not be afraid to call so special help in if needed for this. If your partner is snoring so bad, that you possibly cannot go on any more with no sleep, and the reflection in the mirror looks like an extra from The Walking Dead, then this is definitely one for you to consider. May sure you have a hook or similar contraption securely fixed to the ceiling in the bedroom. Tell your partner you are preparing for a kinky night as an excuse if they question it. When the time comes, and they are belting out the sounds of the worst storm to hit mankind, the get a thick rope, tie it round their ankles, and hoist them up to the ceiling gently so they do not wake up. This is where that baseball bat you have been etching their name into over and over on those sleepless nights comes in handy. NOw the methid of this is to imagine you are a child hitting a pinata to get all the sweets out of it, or as an adult, the pinata is full of nice, peaceful, never to be disturbed again, nights sleeps. Give it all you have with the bat, until you are satisfied, you wish for peaceful sleep has been granted. You may, for this method have to call in some very discrete cleaners, unless of course you have mastered the ways of Dexter from the TV show and used copious amounts of polythene to cover the room silently before hand.

Well there you have it my friends. I hope one of these methods helps you in your quest for a restful night.

Take care

(obviously this is dark humour, so if you do try any of these, on you head be it)

Steve’s Day.

It’s Steve’s Day. Woop woop. Yes I’m sad enough to say woop woop at 49 years old.

Anyway, today I woke up at about half past eleven. I was quite shocked at the time. I know I was totally shattered after a couple of night of bad sleep but I wasn’t expecting to be asleep until that time. And boy, did my back know it. To be honest, it’s what woke me up. The pain in my back, which I get when I have been lying in bed for too long. As I later found out, the night before I had forgotten to take all my meds, which include pain killers for my back. So not surprising really that I was in pain.

After the shock of waking up late, I went and had breakfast so that I could take my morning load of meds. The day has been spent in the house catching up on the washing etc. I managed to get Google Play music on Denise’s old Galaxy S4 phone. It was LOUD. I love my 80’s music.

Emma popped round today after getting back of her hols yesterday. It was good to catch up with her. She even brought the cats a pressie. A tin of loads of bags of treats. She spoils our cats. She’s a softie.

Georgia got home absolutely aching after carrying a very heavy bag home. It was something she needs to take to work tomorrow. She was not impressed at all at how sore she was.

Denise got home and we had Slimming World chicken curry for dinner. I love it when we had this. Very tasty.
We had a good night and had some laughs.

I’m in bed now so will get going. Its a short one today but if you have got this far, thank you for reading.

I have a favour to ask you guys before I go. Please share these blogs around on your social media. Its lovely when I see people have popped across to The Wright Times blog site.

Thats it for today so I’ll say good night to you all

Take care

I am lost

It was one of those nights yet again last night. I was so tired and no matter how long I lay there with my eyes closed, I could not slip into proper sleep. I think the last time I looked at the clock was about 5am, and my alarm goes off at 6.30am.

Well, at work things have not been too bad. A bit on the busy side, but still manageable. Earlier on in the day I was getting on with things, then it happened. The worst thing that could happen. The worst thing for a vlogger / blogger / and someone who pretty much lives on the internet. My Huawei P9 phone decided after yesterday’s antics, to go and die on me. I don’t mean run out of battery. That would be fine as I had my charger with me. No, it went and totally and utterly give up the ghost. This was after it did the same as yesterday and flickered the screen, jumped to different screens, then gave me hundreds of very thin coloured lines from top to bottom, the went black. The most I can get out of it is a vibration when I hold the power button in for ten seconds, and the screen goes from black to a very, very, very slightly lighter black. If I plug the charger in, the charge light comes on green as if fully charged.

It’s weird that I did a post in the last couple of days about how reliant we have become on out devices. The day has been awful without it. No decent music to listen to apart from one or two songs throughout the day on the radio stations that I had to keep flicking to and from. I had my internet free work phone so at least I could text Denise and my friends. I even got a phone call of Marc as well which helped for a while. Without my mobile internet it was awful. I was looking forward to playing my Google Play music, or messaging on Telegram etc. There was times I needed to search Google for something but couldn’t do it.

Apart from that, my day has been one big extravaganza lol

I’m home now. We had salmon stirfry for dinner. It was lovely. Georgia finishes late tonight. Hopefully it will be a peaceful night.

Let hope I can sleep tonight. Fingers crossed.

What would you do if you had to go all day with no mobile internet, and you had no access to wifi. How would you feel? What would you miss the most?

Have a good night / day everyone

Monday, I hate you so.

It’s Monday. The day of the week I really dislike. Today has the added bonus that I’ve not had a good night’s sleep.

I was really unsettled last night for some reason. It felt like I was waking up every half hour.

Denise has already been up since 6am, had a shower and made our packed lunches.

She’s a total trooper. I don’t know what we would do without her.

As it is Monday, it goes without saying that today has been absolutely stupidly busy. It’s been go go go all day.

Today struck in a strange way today when it decided to make my mobile phone go all weird on me. The screen was doing loads of things all by itself. It even went into whatsapp and rang someone while I wasn’t in the van.
I was struggling to type, do voice messages, or anything pretty much whatsoever. I ended up at last resort and having to restore my phone back to factory settings. Its a pain in the butt, but had to be done. For now it seems to have settled down.

It’s half five in the evening and I’m in Cafe Nero having a cuppa while I wait for Georgia to finish work.

Denise has gone to the gym after work, but to be honest, she nearly decided not to as she is aching from yesterday’s session.

While waiting for Georgia I admired some more of the Christmas lights that were on display.

And a quick video I took of some of the twinkling decorations.

When we got home, Denise was already home from the gym and was busy cooking a Chilli Con Carni which was really, really tasty. While having our dinner, we all had a catch up about our days at work.

Afterwards we just went to bed to watch vlogs while I edited my blog.

Hope Monday was good for you.

What did you do today. Tell us in the comments below.

Take care

It’s amazing how things have progressed

Who would of thought that as little as maybe ten years ago we could not do things that we take for granted these days. Ten years ago I never thought that I would be able to do a real time video call to a friend in another country thousands of miles away or from a device small enough to wear on your wrist or from a mobile phone, you would be able to send a text, photo or video message to someone as well who is half way round the world. All real time. Sometimes I sit and think how amazing technology is these days and how quick it has progressed.

These days composing your own music, making music on a computer, writing and publishing books, ordering shopping from the confines of a nice warm house to be delivered to your door. Finding any bit of information you need, from recipes, to holiday reviews. Its all there waiting to be experienced.

I wonder in another ten years what will we be using and doing then. What do you think we will be doing in ten years time with technology?

I remember when I was a kid, all the kids thought by the year 2000, we would be driving around in flying cars.

Well that never happened. Shame really, that would be fun. No more worrying about getting stuck in snow or floods etc. Imagine how cool that would be.

I just came across this image by The Telegraph newspaper. Sort of sums up what I mean. The evolution of humanity.

I would love to see virtual workstations like this for the home, like I have seen on films. Amazing.

Have a great week

Space invaders and a ghost film review

Fridays are meant to be a time when you forward to the weekend aren’t they? Well today, I can’t get excited as I am working tomorrow and I still have not had much sleep. That’s a few days running now. It’s got to the point where I said to Denise this morning that if I don’t sleep well tonight, I might take a sleeping tablet.

Anyway today was a nice steady day. Nothing bad happened apart from having to drive into the North Pennines, which after 2.5 years is starting to wear a bit thin now. Apart from that it was a good day.

Random pic of the day.

There are several of these tiled space invader mosaics scattered around Newcastle. To my knowledge noone knows who stuck them up. They just appeared over night years ago. I think it’s like a challenge where you have to go and find them all. I remember seeing a list on the tinterwebs of all the locations. I have not located them all yet I don’t think.

I came home to an empty house as Georgia was in Newcastle with her friends and Denise went to the gym.
After Denise got home, we had chicken, slimming world oven chips and loads of mushy peas. Oh yes, tomorrow I will be stinking lol. Stinking like a man should stink lol.

I did actually vlog today, but forgot to end it so will either end it in the morning or make it a 2 day vlog. Can’t decide yet.

Tonight we decided to watch something a bit different on Netflix. It was a film called ‘I am the pretty thing that lives in the house’

It had loads of one star ratings but after someone said it like an old style phycological thriller ghost story rather than a modern guts and gore film, we decided to give it a try. To be honest, it wasn’t boring but not exciting either, it was just decent in my opinion. Its kind of hard to explain the plot. Its about a woman who gets sent to a house to look after a terminally ill woman, but she starts feeling theres more to the house than she first thought. I think it will be one of those that you will either hate or love.

Anyway you all have a good weekend

Thursday tiredness, fruit and Mobikes.

It’s Thursday and it’s going to be a long day as I did not have that much sleep last night due to having restless leg again and Denise was snoring but I will do what’s needed to get through the rest of the day. I sometimes wonder if I smothered her with a pillow would I get off with extenuating circumstances for being so tired and lack of sleep for a long period of time ha ha.
I know places like Manchester have had these for a while now but Newcastle have only just introduced them. What I am talking about are Mobikes.

I had never even heard of these until That’s Brad on YouTube pulled several of these out of a local canal while he was magnet fishing. I was having a good look at them this morning and they look really uncomfortable. There does not appear to be any suspension whatsoever on these. I cannot use a normal bike anyway because of my back injuries but these would be horrific to ride, a bit like a bike from the 1970s. I suppose the idea and the initiative behind it is good to get people fit and use less cars in the city. To find out about the Mobike Scheme, check out their Mobike Website. I now know what its all about. What a great idea, even if the bikes look a bit weird and bone shakey ( if that’s even a word lol )

I have been to the greengrocers today to get our supply of fruit.

I was advised by Emma M never to buy food from a greengrocers at the beginning of the week as they are still trying to get rid of the stuff from the end of the last week so I checked with the man I know in the greengrocers and he said they get their fresh fruit in on the Thursday so that is why I get the fruit on a Thursday now.

In Newcastle and had some spare time so I took a photo. That filled in a whole 5 seconds haha

While being parked up I’ve just seen something which is one of my bugbears and does my head in. It’s when kids walk along the street and their pants are halfway down their backside. Oh my god that really irritates me. It just looks so scruffy and I bet the kids that do that think they look super cool. Does this annoy anybody else, or is it just me?

Thanks to the kind nature of my boss, I got to finish work early so I have come across to the Metro Centre to meet up with Denise for a coffee after work which is always nice. I have heard that Georgia has not had the best of days but she was apparently close to tears on the phone with her mother earlier.

Anyway, after getting home and having a chicken dinner, we went to bed and just chilled out with vlogs on the tv, and Georgia chatting to friends on social media.

I hope everyone has had a great day today

Catch you soon

Digital addiction

In this day of digital this and digital that are we now becoming dependent on being connected 24/7 to the outside world and letting everybody know what we are doing ? Nearly everyone I know apart from the older generation and by that I mean people who are 60s and over seem to be permanently attached to their phone and hardly any time goes by where they are not checking statuses emails text messages etc etc. Also, a lot of people, seem to have to find a wifi hotspot wherever they are, whether in a shop, restaurant, shopping mall, city centre, a friends house, or wherever, to get a better connection so they can get their messages and updates quicker or to share a selfie, photo of their meal or a cute photo of their cat. It’s like some sort of primal need.

‘Cell phone addiction treatment center’

Denise and myself were in a restaurant a couple of weeks ago and they were a family sitting at the next table comma mother father and two young children . I happened to look across at one point and the two kids were sitting there looking bored while their parents we’re both on their mobile phones typing away and it made me think are we losing the art of communication ? Have things really got so bad where we cannot hold a conversation with another person face to face ? I have in the past, as a joke , send our daughter a text message when she has been in her bedroom to tell her that her tea was ready as I know that would be noticed straight away. It worked .

I have to admit that we even fall foul of it in the evenings when we have our tea. We normally watch YouTube vlogs while we have our dinner. but because Georgia isn’t always keen on some of the vlogs that we watch she sits on her phone while having her tea. So you see, even we fall into the digital trap as well.

Don’t get me wrong some of the technology available to help people communicate is amazing and I sometimes wish we had this sort of thing when I was a kid but these days with mobile phones, Skype, FaceTime, WhatsApp and the abundance of other apps that are out there never mind getting started on the multi channel TV where there’s something to watch on TV 24/7, communication is going down the pan and I think these days we do not see as much of our kids as we probably should or hear as much from them as we probably should which granted, some parents were probably think is a good thing ha ha.

I don’t think things are going to get any better either with future generations as I have heard of children for example 3 years old playing with mobile phones and tablets which I know can be educational but my own personal view on this is to limit the time on there and not just use it to keep the child quiet. Also with the multi channel TV comes all the children’s channels which again is another way that is used to keep the child quiet and I think the interaction between parent and child is getting less and less with the parent being so busy all the time and the availability of copious amounts of children’s TV. I think more and more future generations are going to be growing up dependent on electronic devices and digital connection to their friends and family.

Wednesday, Steve’s Day

Well its Wednesday, or I like to call it on my vlogs, Steve’s Day. Its so nice having a day off work right in the middle of the week. I’ve never had that in any other job. It makes a hell of a difference.

As normal on a Wednesday I try to get on top of the washing. We seem to go through an extraordinary amount of towels to a family of 3. Thats the main thing that fills the laundry basket. Typical as well that towels take longer to dry in the dryer. So I always try to do these last and get on with more important stuff like everyday clothes and underwear etc. wAfter setting that off in the washer, I got on with the job I keep either forgetting on keep putting off. This is clean the fish tank, do water treatments and feed the fish. Its not a difficult job, just a pain. At least it keeps my fishies happy anyway.

I had a Skype call of Emma M today from her holiday in Tenerife. It was lovely to see her look happy and smiling. I really hope she has a good time and takes the chance to relax. She deserves a break. Not only is Emma ( and her mum and aunty ) away on holiday, but also George Monkey.

For anyone who does not know, he’s The Wright Times mascot, and always jumps at the chance to go away on holiday with friends or go to their houses for a break from his monkey duties.

IN the afternoon I had a rather impromptu power nap. It was weird waking up and the room was in darkness with the daylight saving hours these days. I wish we didn’t have to have them. Just keep the days as they are during the summer. Where its light longer at night. Non of this getting dark at 2.30 in the afternoon.

Anyway Denise come home from work and then the Gym. We had tea. Meatballs and spaghetti in a tomato based sauce. Yummy.

W went to bed to catch up on the latest episode of The Walking Dead. I’m enjoying Season 8 so far and its only on episode 3. After that we watched loads of music video’s from my playlist’s on YouTube

Georgia eventually got home from work and meeting her friends at about 20.45. Had her tea and told us about the loads of course work she has to get done for January. Good luck to her for that. She’s gonna have to knuckle down.

Anyway, thats been my day today. Nothing exciting. How has your been? Drop a comment below.

Not as I had planned

Today did not start too bad. It was lovely and sunny but still cold at the same time but at least this morning I did not have to scrape the ice off the car. As always every two weeks this Tuesday is the busy one but so far still not been too bad. No dramas which is always a good thing and at least the person that had problems with yesterday has not said anything to me today.
It’s lunch time now so I’m going to have a quick bite to eat while sitting in the van parked up.It has started raining so the pitter patter of the raindrops on the windscreen and roof is quite relaxing. I am looking forward to having the day off tomorrow to catch up on the washing and also possibly seeing what I can do with my blog page and see if there are any changes I can make to it.
Well that wasn’t what I planned. After being quite busy at work, got home, fell asleep, then was woke up by Denise who had made our tea. Chicken curry, I love it. After that went back to bed and fell straight asleep again until 9.45 this morning (Wednesday). Wow, I must of really need so much sleep.
